The Master’s Program in Research in Surgery encompasses the multidisciplinary approach involved in the scope of the various surgical specialties, through clinical or experimental investigations, being inter and transdisciplinary and encouraging inter-institutional cooperation. In this stricto sensu program, the student must comply with the core of formative disciplines, necessary to consolidate teaching and research concepts, whose purpose is to prepare him for the exercise of teaching and research, expose him to scientific methodology, with tools that encourage critical judgment of information, developing and stimulating self-learning and continuing education.
Target Audience
Holders of a higher education diploma in different areas of knowledge and who can interact with research for the development of medical-surgical specialties.

The Research in Surgery program, at the Academic Master’s level, is contemplated in three Areas of Concentration and nine lines of research, detailed below:
1 – AREA OF CONCENTRATION: CARE AND WELL-BEING OF THE SURGICAL PATIENT
1.1 – DEVELOPMENT, EVALUATION AND APPLICABILITY OF NEW SURGICAL TECHNIQUES AND USE OF BIOMATERIALS
Description: Experiment in the development and creation of approach techniques in the surgical procedure with or without the use of new materials.

1.2 – MICROSURGIES, MINIMALLY INVASIVE SURGERIES, USING NEW SURGICAL TECHNIQUES OR MATERIALS
Description: Study of the use of materials and techniques that allow less surgical aggression to the patient and, therefore, a faster and more adequate recovery.

1.3 – PREVENTION, EVALUATION AND PREPARATION OF THE SURGICAL ACT AND THE POST-OPERATIVE ACT
Description: Study of the necessary care to avoid or minimize possible risks to the surgical patient.

2 – AREA OF CONCENTRATION: SOCIAL REINSERTION AND QUALITY OF LIFE
2.1 – BIOPSYCHOSOCIAL ASPECTS AND ITS PRE AND POST SURGICAL SYMPTOMS
Description: The need for care for surgical patients in order to alleviate possible anesthetic or invasive compromises.

2.2 – SURGERIES AIMED AT WOMEN’S WELL-BEING AND SOCIAL REINSERTION
Description: Study inherent to invasive or non-invasive procedures, and support in the social reintegration of women, mainly oncology.

2.3 – QUALITY OF LIFE BEFORE AND/OR AFTER SURGICAL PROCEDURE
Description: Necessary care to ease the suffering that may occur before or after surgical procedures in certain diseases.

3.1 – TISSUE AGGRESSION AND REGENERATION
Description: Human or animal tissue evaluation regarding their behavior in the face of processes that interfere with their recovery.

3.2 – SURGERY OF DISORDERS OF CELLULAR BEHAVIOR AND HEALING
Description: Concerning the study of tissue behavior characteristics in terms of development and repair.

3.3 – STUDY OF INFLAMMATORY AND METABOLIC CHANGES RELATED TO THE SURGICAL PROCEDURE.
Description: Referring to the normal or pathological behavior in the process of tissue surgical aggression.
